In practice, Rosengård were of course already in the round of 16 after the 7-0 crush against Georgian champions Lantjchuti. But they didn’t stop on the way back for that. Rosengård only wanted to go to Christmas break after a proper goal celebration.
The match started as early as the sixth minute when Sanne Troelsgaard broke the deadlock at Malmö IP. At half-time, the score was 5-0 and Rosengård scored the same number in the second half, marking a record for the Malmö team at the European Games. Troelsgaard became a two-goal shooter, as did Anna Anvegård, while Jelena Canković hung up three there. Behind a whole string of goals was Danish star Sofie Svava, who made her final match with the team before moving to Wolfsburg.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd also thanked her time at the club (set for Gothenburg) with a goal that was also the result of Hanna Bennison and team captain Caroline Seger.
In total, more than two games, Rosengård is further away at 17-0 and can therefore take a well-deserved Christmas break. The quarterfinals will be drawn on February 16, which will then be decided in March.
