It can hardly be called fir.
Amanda Ranebo has always dreamed of a classic Disney tree, which is why her parents give her the ugliest tree they can find.
– This year I think we have hit rock bottom. It can’t get worse than this, she says.
The available branches extend in all possible directions at Amanda Ranebo’s house, 31, in Värmdö in Stockholm. What is above and below is difficult to see.
– It’s big, incredibly wide, very uncomfortable. We have to climb it to get to the bathroom, the sofa or to move around the house, he says.
Amanda has always dreamed of a real Disney tree, like the one Piff & Puff wears in Kalle Anka. But even though his extra dad owns hundreds of acres of coniferous forest, the dream has never come close to coming true.
– It started as a joke, because my parents never managed to fulfill my wishes. So this is the result. They’ve given up, says Amanda.

Perhaps the ugliest Christmas tree in Sweden is in Värmdö.
When Amanda complained about her dream tree, her extra dad started preaching about “the equal value of all fir trees” and that even the ugliest fir trees want the chance to become a Christmas tree.
Hope for next year
If Amanda hadn’t traditionally placed a star on one of the spider-shaped branches, it would have been difficult to find the top of the fir tree. With the help of beautiful balls and other decorations, Amanda still seems to have done her best to create that magically beautiful Christmas feeling.
– My parents do not understand what a Disney tree is, so I have given up there. But sometimes spruce can have a bottom side and a transparent top. That would be nice, says Amanda.
Despite years of disappointment when the Christmas tree is delivered, Amanda Ranebo is hopeful. Next year, he thinks it will be better than this. Because parents can’t find an uglier fir tree in the forest, can they?
– I think we’ve reached the bottom. It can’t get worse than this. After this they could stop giving me an ugly Christmas, I could be more fir shaped next year, he says.
