He also criticizes the government for not taking responsibility.
– At the same time, they were quick to blame someone else when things didn’t go as planned. So it was the fault of the regions, the authorities or the population. Never from the government itself. Blaming yourself has become a strategy, says Lööf.
The Commission’s criticisms of previous governments are also not addressed in the Christmas speech. Instead, Annie Lööf emphasizes the important role of the Center Party.
– We have played a key role in launching financial support packages. We have lobbied the government to change corona’s strategy, test more and track more, provide better protection for our elderly and establish a team against the pandemic, says Annie Lööf.
He also believes that general advice on the use of oral protection should be introduced, even though the Public Health Agency has not introduced it.
– There is now clear scientific support for mouth guards to reduce infection. So oral protection is a way forward to save as many lives as possible, says Lööf.
In his Christmas speech, the center’s leader also addressed violence against women. The Center Party wants to see a number of improvements in support for vulnerable women.
Funding for the country’s nonprofit women’s shelters should be stable over the long term. The National Center for Women’s Peace (NCK) must receive ongoing core funding and regain its mission of national awareness.
The contact ban should be enforced and electronic foot shackles should be used more frequently.
– Today it is required that the prohibition of contact be violated so that the convicted person has to wear a shackle. That is unreasonable. You shouldn’t have to wait to be exposed to violence or threats again before you, as a woman, get better protection, says Annie Lööf.
The party also wants to see an automatic ban on contact if the perpetrator is convicted of a more serious crime, such as a serious violation of women’s rights, assault or illegal threats.
The Center also proposes that the position of vulnerable women in court proceedings be strengthened through, among other things, a mandatory mediation procedure before a custody action can be initiated. The property division process must also be sped up and those who delay the process bear a larger share of the cost.
