Four 16-year-old boys died in a traffic accident in Sörfors on May 31.

The driver is now being prosecuted in Sundsvall District Court for gross negligence in traffic, seriously causing the death of another person and serious bodily injury.

The 19-year-old woman was driving up to 200 km / h with one hand on the wheel, according to the indictment.

The accident occurred at 3 p.m. on Mother’s Day, when an Audi A4 sped off the road on the outskirts of Sörfors in Västernorrland county.

The 19-year-old driver and a 14-year-old girl sitting next to her survived. Four 16-year-olds without seat belts in the back seat were thrown from the car and died.

Deputy Attorney General Karin Everitt writes in the lawsuit that the driver “by a wide margin exceeded the current speed limit which was 70 km / h and drove the car at a speed of about 200 km / h and at least 150 km / h with one hand on the wheel while she had four unbelted passengers in the back seat, partly during part of the trip they sat with a mobile phone in hand, on several occasions they drove near the edge of the curb on the road and they finally made a detour at high speed and then veered off the road and onto the field. “

“Psychological terror”

The driver has “been grossly negligent and has shown an obvious disregard for other people’s lives,” the prosecutor writes.

The dead, Max Larsson, Emil Idh, Felix Persson and Milton Vestman, had been to a cruise event in Hassela and were on their way to Stöde.

According to the indictment, the 14-year-old passenger suffered “life-threatening injuries that included bleeding related to the meninges, shock injuries to the brain, fractures to the base of the skull, a cervical spine ligament injury, various fractures to the vertebrae, shock injuries to the heart and lungs, spleen injuries, various fractures to the pelvis and legs, internal bleeding and skin damage. “

Elenor Idh, Emil’s mother, comments on the description of how the driver was driving:

– It’s psychic terror to think about it, it’s crazy.

How do you feel that the prosecution has arrived?

– We understand that you have approached. The wait has been terrible, I have not been able to sleep. I had to take time off work for several days because I couldn’t handle my responsibilities. But it is also a relief that the prosecution is coming now, says Elenor Idh.

All plaintiffs are represented by attorney Elisabeth Massi Fritz:

– The incident is terribly tragic, with all the consequences it has had for the victims. Trial will be difficult for all family members, while prosecution is important, he says.
