The crown infection keeps Skåne under control.
At Wednesday’s press conference, infection control doctor Eva Melander described the situation as serious and that infection continues to increase in the 10- to 60-year-old age group.
The infection has spread throughout Skåne, but because it was most infected in the northwest last week, it is now mainly in central Skåne.
The proportion of positives in the sample has also increased and is now 25 percent.
Infection control doctor Eva Melander stresses the importance of following advice, and Regional Director Alf Jönsson urges care not to unnecessarily overload attention in the difficult situation.
Pia Lundbom, Director of Health and Medical Care, says Scanian’s healthcare situation “is very dire.”
– We manage emergency medical care and priority medical care, but it is a serious situation.
– Now we will turn to companies and private care providers to help us with staffing during Christmas and New Years, he says.
Older people in households get vaccinated first
As Kvällposten reported on Tuesday, 29,000 first doses of vaccine will arrive in Skåne in January. This is half the number of doses the Skåne Region expected a few weeks ago, according to Per Hagstam, an assistant infection control physician.
The dose limit quantity will require prioritization, especially in the first stage. In January, the vaccine is only sufficient for accommodation in special accommodation and personnel. This is because everyone must receive two doses, which means that the first delivery is enough for 14,500 people.
Vaccination will be carried out in different phases and in the first phase the focus is on those who live in special dwellings and on the staff to provide users with greater protection.
– Then there are the corresponding groups in their own home. Those with greater care and nursing effort at home. In the same way, they are a risk group, says Per Hagstam.
– It is a larger group and a little more difficult to reach.
