According to the moderate leader, many of the structural problems have been known for decades.
– On behalf of my party, I am pleased to take responsibility for everything that would have been done in the 1990s onwards. That we have a bad division of medical responsibility between regions and municipalities, the state must do something about it, says Ulf Kristersson.
– But it is the government that governs the kingdom.
The ban on visits, infection tracking and measures related to protective equipment in healthcare should have been introduced more quickly, according to Ulf Kristersson.
– I don’t understand why the government was so incredibly slow.
SD: “Government responsibility”
According to Henrik Vinge, leader of the group in the Swedish Democratic Riksdag, it is now important to give nursing homes the tools they need to handle future crises.
– It is the government’s responsibility to prepare nursing homes to handle a situation like this, he says.
– Nursing homes for the elderly have worked as an integration measure. Many people work there and there are language problems that have made it difficult to plan what to do.
C: mouth guard required
Anders W Jonsson, health care policy spokesman for the Center Party, notes that requirements for oral protection are needed in all contact with the elderly in health care.
– In regions where we have a rapid spread of infection and in tight environments, the use of mouth guards should now be recommended. So sadly, we don’t have a pandemic law, which means parts of the Christmas trade can’t be shut down, which might be desirable, he says.
V: “Heroic Efforts”
Nooshi Dadgostar, party leader of the Left Party, criticizes the fact that many elderly care workers have a temporary job.
– They are people who have made heroic contributions putting their lives and their families at risk, but who have not received the support of society, he says.
– Elderly care is underfunded and has therefore not been able to withstand the pandemic well.
