Pressure on healthcare remains strong in the Stockholm region.
This weekend, the occupancy rate for intensive care was 101 percent in the region, writes Dagens Nyheter. Intensive care units are occupied by both covidual patients and others.
Now the director of health and medical care, Björn Eriksson, has decided that the regional management of special medical care will increase in a situation called strengthening. This is done to facilitate staff growth and to postpone planned care.
“We have an extremely tense situation throughout the healthcare system and our employees work very hard. With an increased state of readiness, we can quickly make the necessary decisions about strengthening staff to be able to cope with the current need for care for longer. and also be prepared for an even greater need for care, “says Björn Eriksson in a press release.
On November 19, the region went into personal mode, the least serious of three emergency situations. The others are boost mode and disaster mode.
There are currently 801 covid-19 patients in the Stockholm Region receiving hospital care, of which 87 are in the intensive care unit.
