On the dates of December 24 to 27, December 31 to January 3 and January 6, the health and care sector in the municipality of Skövde will not grant permits for, according to a press release.

The reason is the corona pandemic and the pressure on health care.

– We have a large workload in businesses that are for those who are fragile and most vulnerable in this situation in which we find ourselves. To cope with that, we need to have high competition in our businesses. Our substitutes serve an important role and we need them too, but they cannot always replace trained and experienced employees, Ann-Sofi Söderberg says in the press release.

Health personnel will be discharged later

Instead, staff will have time off at a later date.

– There will be opportunities to be free after the most critical period during the Christmas and New Years holidays for the people who will be affected by this. We will make sure our staff have time to recover, even if it doesn’t happen exactly when they had wanted it all along, says Sofia Myrman, manager of human resources in Skövde municipality.

Ann-Sofi Söderberg also says in the press release:

– The people for whom we are responsible need us more than ever and we must assume that responsibility.
