Hanna Öberg was by far the best of all at the start of Sunday’s hunt.

It was still not enough for the podium.

The biathlon star was happy anyway.

– What a return! It feels so good, Öberg tells SVT.

It was Elvira Öberg who for a long time seemed to make up for the victory at the start of the Hochfilzen hunt. But he fired completely on the third standing shooter, and he couldn’t repair the damage done by three booms and that many penalty rounds.

– They told me there were three scarce barriers. I still do what I can, but it’s special to be there and I haven’t been that many times. It’s probably a combination of many things that makes it that way, says Elvira Öberg, seventh at the end, for SVT.

“Back to where I was”

Instead, older sister Hanna Öberg came from behind, shot four zeros in a row and made an impressive climb from 29th to become the final four. In terms of the start of the hunt alone, Hanna Öberg was the big star of the race, and she was 36.6 seconds faster than the closest competitor. It was an important receipt after failing in both Friday’s sprint and Saturday’s relay.

– What a return! It feels so good. I really did work on the whole series. The last series I had such a good feeling, I felt better and better all the time, says Hanna Öberg.

– I am very happy with my race today. Couldn’t have done much better. Today I am back where I was in Kontiolax (last World Cup competition). It feels great.

This time, however, it was not enough for the podium, but it was close. Öberg came off the last shooter standing as third, but just seconds ago, Julia Simon stepped forward.

And on the last lap, the French, who launched three booms but started 55 seconds before Öberg, was the strongest and took third place.

– I went out and thought I would try to keep her behind me. But he has shown great form these days. When it came, I was a little surprised. Today was too strong for me, but next time I will take it, says Hanna Öberg to SVT.

Norwegian victory

Norwegian Mars Olsbu Røiseland won, starting 17 seconds behind Dzinara Alimbekava. Belaruriskan certainly shot four zeros, as did Hanna Öberg, but Røiseland was much faster on the tracks and could cost two penalty rounds and still defeat Alimbekava in the end.

With the victory, Røiseland also took the overall lead in the World Cup, ahead of Alimbekava and Hanna and Elvira Öberg.

– It feels very good. This is my first time wearing the yellow leader’s vest, says the Norwegian.

– This means a lot. I have had a good start to the season and have done many good races, but I have missed being at the top.
