During a meeting of the City Council, a decision was made to ban sexist and racist advertising on the advertising sites of the City of Gothenburg in the future. Reports SVT West.
Stina Svensson, Fi, has promoted the issue along with Jenny Broman, V and Karin Pleijel, MP. They are behind the motion that has now been voted on.
It is the traffic committee that will develop the guidelines for advertising. It is not yet clear what will be classified as prohibited advertising.
– We hope you get acquainted with it as soon as possible, says Stina Svensson to SVT.
Stockholm inspiration
He also tells SVT that the inspiration for the proposal comes from Stockholm, which in 2017 introduced guidelines against sexist and racist outdoor advertising.
Not everyone was positive about exercise.
The Swedish Democratic and Alliance parties voted against the motion.
– We already have Swedish legislation that must be followed, of course you should not advertise, for example, a racist message. It is an incitement to ethnic groups. Plus there’s the ad ombudsman who also regulates these things, says Jörgen Fogelklou, SD, to SVT.
