Antoine Griezmann breaks his contract, Sarah Sjöström does not extend it, but Therese Johaug has no plans to end her collaboration with the criticized telecommunications company Huawei.
– We relate to the official fact-based information from Huawei, says the manager of the ski star, Jørn Ernst, to TV2.
It was yesterday that Barcelona star Antoione Griezmann announced that he broke his agreement with Huawei with immediate effect. This is after revelations in the Washington Post that the telecommunications company has created a so-called “Uyghur alarm” to Chinese authorities to map and monitor the Muslim minority.
Sportbladet was later able to reveal that Sarah Sjöström will also end their collaboration when the deal expires on New Years. His counterpart in Norway is ski star Therese Johaug.
“Close and wide cooperation”
He has no plans to act on the latest information, his manager announces.
– We relate to Huawei’s official fact-based information on the company’s role and attitude in this matter and the company’s obligations regarding human rights, writes Jørn Ernst in a statement to TV2, continuing:
– In our general assessment of the collaboration with Huawei, we are based on the fact that the Norwegian authorities and companies have a close and extensive collaboration with Chinese companies.
Huawei: take it seriously
The agreement currently runs through May 2021.
Huawei writes to TV2 themselves and denies developing facial recognition algorithms or services targeting ethnic groups.
“We think it is a shame that Antione Griezmann has decided to end our collaboration. We respect that decision and we take the situation seriously,” they write more.
