Two 70-year-old brothers are sentenced to two years and nine months in prison, respectively, for having smuggled several thousand liters of alcohol, writes Gefle Dagblad.

The older brother admits that he has traveled to Germany 55 times during the current time period, but says he has not bought alcohol during all the trips and denies smuggling.

The accusation refers to smuggling during 2016-2018, but according to the prosecutor, it is possible that the brothers operated the business for longer.

– Yes, of course. But there are no suspicions about it. The suspicions are related to the period of the crime, chamber prosecutor Peter Olofsson told GD this spring.

In addition to the brothers, both retirees and residents of Sandviken, a third man is sentenced to 10 months in prison for aiding and inciting smuggling. In addition, about 10 people are convicted of having collaborated with smuggling or sales in various ways. There, the penalties vary between fines, suspended sentences and daily fines.

In total, there are 1,690 liters of brandy, 4,587 liters of wine, 40,704 liters of beer and 2,433 liters of cider.
