The president also said in the statement that the vaccine will be free to all Americans.

– I can proudly say that this vaccine will be free to all Americans. We have already begun to distribute the vaccine to all the states of the country. The first vaccine will be in place within 24 hours. Governors decide how the vaccine will be distributed and who will get it first, Trump says, continuing:
– We want our seniors, healthcare employees, and blue light staff to be first in line. This will quickly reduce deaths and hospitalizations.
Boots targeting China
During the speech, the president also directed a series of glances at China:
– When the Chinese virus invaded our borders, I promised that we would produce a vaccine in record time. They said it wouldn’t work, but today we have reached that goal. We are the first in the world to produce a verified, safe and effective vaccine. The pandemic may have started in China, but we are ending it here in the United States.
Additionally, Trump also emphasized how safe the vaccine is:
– Pfizer and Moderna have said the vaccine is 95 percent effective, well above expectations. It’s very safe. American citizens have participated in surveys that are much larger than usual and have had no serious side effects.
