White House Threat: Pass the Vaccine or Lose Your Job

Mark Meadows is said to have demanded that the FDA approve the Pfizer / Biontech vaccine, which would make it the first corona vaccine approved in the United States, on Friday for Chief Stephen Hahn to keep the job.

Hours earlier, the president of the United States had called the FDA “a big, slow turtle.”

“Make sure you get the damn vaccine NOW, Dr. Hahn. Stop playing around and start saving lives!”, Demanded Trump on Twitter.

The vaccine has been shown to be 95 percent effective in tests.

Following the White House ultimatum, the FDA is said to have changed the schedule to approve the corona vaccine for Friday instead of Saturday morning, which was originally planned, according to two people with knowledge of the process.

“We do not comment on private conversations, but the president regularly requests updates on the progress of a vaccine,” a White House official told the Washington Post.

Stephen Hahn himself says he does not believe the Washington Post article correctly reproduces the telephone conversation he had with Mark Meadows.

“The FDA was encouraged to proceed quickly with the processing of the Pfizer / Biontech application and we are determined to implement the approval as soon as possible,” Stephen Hahn told the newspaper.

Pfizer / Biontech’s covid-19 vaccine has been shown to be 95 percent effective in tests on tens of thousands of subjects and has already been approved by the UK, Canada, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
