– As, among other things, long-term president of the Swedish Medical Association, Heidi Stensmyren has the knowledge and experience to lead the work of the board. With her and other new members, the competence is broadened with a focus on health and law, which will be of utmost importance in developing the Swedish Social Security Agency as an authority together with the Director General, says Social Security Minister Ardalan Shekarabi (S) in a press release.

The assignment is for three years and runs from the turn of the year to 2023.

Other new board members for the same term are Ulrika Liljeberg, president of the Leksand city council and lawyer, Lotta Vahlne Westerhäll, professor of public law with a specialization in social law, and Erland Olausson, chairman of the Valdemarsvik city council and attorney. Additionally, Thomas Pålsson, Director General of the Center for State Services, will be appointed as a member for the period from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2024.

The board also includes the managing director of the Swedish Social Security Agency, Nils Öberg, and members Anita Johansson, Ella Niia and Jörgen Olofsson.

Heidi Stensmyren was President of the Swedish Medical Association from 2014-2020. You will receive the allowance at the Swedish Social Security Agency, plus two other new allowances, also from the turn of the year. She takes on a new position as Theme Director for the new theme Women’s Health and Health Professions at Karolinska University Hospital. And during 2021–2022, she will also be president of the World Medical Organization, WMA.
