It’s burning in an apartment building with 14 apartments in the center of Boden. Since 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, the rescue service has been working to put out the uncontrollable fire that, after more than two hours of extinguishing work, was still not controlled.
– The fire has entered the building and spread with the wind, that’s what makes it so difficult to extinguish, says Peter Wikström, internal commander of RC Nord.
He claims that the rescue service in Boden has enlisted the help of colleagues from nearby stations.
– At the moment, the rescue services of Boden, Luleå, Piteå and Harads are working to put out the fire. The extinction work is difficult and is expected to last most of the night, he says.
There are no reports of injuries, but all 14 apartments on the property have been evacuated.
TT: Is there a risk of spread?
– There is a risk of spread within the property. However, there is currently no risk of spread to any adjacent property, but that may change, says Peter Wikström in conclusion.
