According to both parties, it was a random meeting that was behind the act.
– My daughter came in and made fun of him on Facebook. She is a girl and she thought it was funny. But he thought I was the one who did it, says the 40-year-old when questioned.
The man also admits that he gave an ear file to the 35-year-old suspect.
– He cursed my wife and called her a whore.
Flew on the tram
In the riot, the defendant, according to the plaintiffs, pulled out the knife and stabbed.
According to witnesses, the author fled the scene on a tram in the direction of Linnaeus Square. A couple of hours later, he was arrested in Frölunda, in the company of an accomplice who was later released.
The 35-year-old has consistently claimed that he acted in self-defense:
– I was attacked. He was very aggressive and threatening and hit me twice in the face. I got dizzy. The third battle failed. Then he rushed over to me and in that situation hit the knife. He never intended to hurt him.
Three serious crimes
This was one of three serious violent crimes committed in Järntorget, where sharp weapons were used, in the last six months.
• On May 3, at lunchtime, a 34-year-old man was sitting in the tavern drinking alcohol. Without much provocation, he then approached a man at another of the restaurant tables and hit him on the neck.
He was later sentenced to three years in prison.
• On October 30, a young man was assaulted and stabbed in the thigh at the beginning of Landsvägsgatan. I was bleeding. A 27-year-old man, with connections to a criminal gang in Lövgärdet, is detained in that case together with two colleagues.
