Tomas Axnér was furious last night because host nation Denmark changed the game schedule at the European Championship.
Now the Danes point out that it was in the fine print that they could change on the show.
But the league captain stands his ground.
– It is not a condominium that we will buy with 800 round-trip clauses, but it is handball that we will play, says Axnér.
At 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday evening, the Swedish team management was informed that the organizer of the Danish European Championship and the European Handball Federation (EHF) had changed the playing time for the intermediate round.
Sweden would now start against Denmark on Friday instead of Montenegro on Thursday.
That made Tomas Axnér react strongly at Sportbladet last night.
On Wednesday morning, Danish journalists, including on social media, pointed to an April game schedule where there was a footnote stating that Denmark would play their matches on December 11, 13 and 15.
– Yes, but at the same time we received an email from EHF on Monday night (after the Swedish group game ended) that we were going to meet the third in group B and also EHF, who have an office here in our hotel has established that schedule in the hotel. without anything tuned, says Axnér.

– There have also been many things that have changed in this championship since April. As a coach, I cannot sit and read 800 documents at night, but I relate to what the EHF sent the night before, where it says that we will meet group three (Montenegro).
Axnér continues:
– It is not a condo that we will buy with 800 round-trip clauses, but it is handball that we will play
“No explanation given”
But would you have had better control?
– No, I think we should relate to what EHF sent last Monday. Since then, it has now emerged from the fine print that match days could be changed. But that the train order (order that complies with the law) I have not received any explanation.
Now he also points out that Norway, which would have participated in the organization of the championship, had the same reservations in the fine print.
– Norway is no longer the organizer of the championship, it has still enjoyed the rights that Denmark has.
The Swedish team’s management has not been in contact with the EHF today about the game time change and Axnér has not received any ban from the EHF for his criticism. Let the head of the national team Hanna Fogelström and the association’s general secretary, Robert Wedberg, possibly discuss it with the EHF.
I would have trained differently if they knew
How have the players reacted?
– I don’t think it affected them that much. Of course, they were surprised and amazed that you have to change and think about something else and that it is a different day in which they have to play than when they went to bed yesterday.

According to Axnér, these days they would have had a different training schedule if they had known that they would play on Friday and not on Thursday.
– Of course yesterday we had trained in a different way and instead we did a heavier training and today we were completely free. Now we have to find a way to train a little more today, but also to train a handball session.
However, you would like to point out that the actual schedule for Sweden improved after the Danish change.
– In general, the new schedule is favorable for us. But if he had been in France or Russia (which starts with two games two days in a row) he probably would have had a different attitude.
The captain of the French team is furious:
– Did they change the program? That’s crazy. It’s a total scandal. It’s a real shame, Olivier Krumbholz said yesterday after the match according to Ekstrabladet.
