There will be no speed weekend at Ulricehamn in January as planned.

Now the VC competitions are moved to February.

– We have been a mitten that has been turned, says Johan Falk, CEO of the World Cup company.

The original plan was for the World Cup to have competitions in Ulricehamn, Lahti, and then Falun at the end of January.

But by graceful maneuvering, the Ulricehamn races will be moved from January 16-17 to February 6-7. In this way, trips between countries are reduced and therefore also the risk of contagion.

– It is almost rude to ask the question 40 days before. In a normal year, it would be impossible to move on such short notice. The World Cup cannot remove hotel reservations if there are conferences in Borås. But this year, most things are possible, says Johan Falk, CEO of the World Cup company in Ulricehamn.

The Swedish championships also move

The distances will not be affected, so Ulricehamn will continue to have individual sprint competition on Saturday and relay sprint on Sunday.

Johan Falk perceives himself as surprisingly calm.

– This was one of the busiest days I’ve ever lived, if you eliminate motherhood. Now I only see benefits. This is how we work. There will be three more weeks in the hope that the pandemic can end. And we haven’t changed the dates for the first time. We have been a thrown glove, we refine ourselves with the date changes.

Movement has an additional effect. The Swedish Championship in Borås will be closer to the sprint in Ulricehamn, February 9-11, so those who are active can stay in the area between competitions.
