HD denied attempt to help Donald Trump in Pennsylvania

Several Pennsylvania Republicans have taken the case to the United States Supreme Court. The goal: to stop a decision in HD Pennsylvania, where the request to remove all mail ballots was rejected.

The rejection came in late November and the request challenged a 2019 law, passed by the Republican majority in Pennsylvania, to allow mail-in ballots for any reason.

“When the lawsuit was filed on November 21, 2020, millions of voters in Pennsylvania had already expressed their will,” the court wrote in its decision, noting that the lawsuit could have been filed more than a year ago.

I wanted to stop certification in Pennsylvania

The lawsuit in the US Supreme Court sought to stop or cancel Pennsylvania’s election certification while the case is appealed to the state. Pennsylvania attorneys wrote in response to HD:

“They ask the court to carry out one of the most dramatic and divisive legal interventions in the history of the republic. No court has previously ordered the cancellation of a governor’s certification of the results of a presidential election.”

HD delivered Pennsylvania’s victory with a single sentence, which states that the application is rejected. Three of the nine US Supreme Court justices have been appointed by Trump, including Amy Coney Barrett, who was approved by the Senate just days before the election.

Texas sues four states

The decision means that the few possible, but extremely unlikely, ways for Trump to win the election through the courts will be closed. A few lawsuits remain, including one filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The mood is similar to what HD saw on Tuesday. Paxton is suing Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan for violating federal law through changes to the electoral process during the pandemic. Therefore, he asks the HD to block the participation of the four states in the electoral vote. The chances of a lawsuit are considered minimal.
