Swedish star Calle Halfvarsson thinks the message is really sad.
– This season is going to be total darkness, unfortunately, he says in a message to Sportbladet
The ski party barely had time to start in Ruka before the party came to a close.
First in line, the Norwegian Ski Association is gone. With regard to the covid pandemic, the country’s rules and guidelines and with the skiers’ health as the focus, the Norwegian national team management has canceled all World Cup competitions up to and including the Ski Tour.

The news of the Tour de Ski came Tuesday evening and was greeted by grim faces in Sweden.
– You have to respect that, they have their values. They declare the rules of quarantine in Norway for a reason. But it’s a great shame, says Swedish national team manager Anders Byström.
The message also landed heavily on Swedish cyclists.
– Incredibly sad … This season is going to be total darkness, sadly …, announces Calle Halfvarsson in a text message to Sportbladet.
What do you think of the Ski Tour?
– Of course I want to go. But if the union says stop, stop.
Swedish skiers have previously expressed disappointment at not being able to compete in the World Cup. Sweden, like Norway and Finland, have canceled competitions in Davos and Dresden.
The Swedish Ski Federation awaits information on possible participation in this year’s Tour de Ski.
Does the absence of Norway (read Therese Johaug) make Ebba Andersson or Frida Karlsson big favorites?
– If they are to line up, they are among the favorites. But there are other strong nations, like Russia. We must not forget that, says Anders Byström.
