It was just 15 minutes of football between Paris Saint-Germain and Basaksehir in the Champions League. Then the match was canceled.
There was chaos in the stands when Pierre Webo of Basaksehir’s team received a red card from referee Ovidiu Hategan. Webo was expelled when he accused the fourth judge of racism, according to the AP news agency.
The players left the field
Forward Demba Ba, who was sitting on Basaksehir’s bench, asked the fourth official for an explanation. Ba was supported by Neymar from PSG and Kylian Mbappé. Basaksehir’s coach Okan Buruk accused the fourth official of racism.
The players protested against the decision. They then chose to leave the plan.
UEFA later wrote in a statement that “the match will be resumed with another quarterback. UEFA will carefully investigate the matter and further information is awaited.”
Resumes on Wednesday
Shortly after 11 p.m., Basaksehir announced the Twitter that his players made the decision not to return to the field of play, and there was no game on Tuesday night.
Shortly after, word came from UEFA that the match will resume on Wednesday at 18.55, with a new set of referees.
PSG offensive star Kylian Mbappé showed his support for Webo Twitter and wrote, among other things, “We are with you” to Pierre Webo.
