M demands swift action after Gothenburg bombing

On Monday, Gothenburg doctor Ali Hajimirsadeghi recounted his life and the hopelessness he feels after surgery by his doctor, Haga Clinic, exploded just less than a month ago.

He is forced to live in a secret place with police protection and cannot work.

Now strong political reactions are emerging.

Johan Forsell of the moderates He says he fully understands that Hajimirsadeghi is considering leaving the country after 34 years.

– Unfortunately, it says something about the situation. Of course, compared to other countries, Sweden is safe, but when it comes to bombing, there is no other country in Europe that has the kind of problems that we have. It is a crisis situation, it cannot be described otherwise, says Forsell, who on his own initiative contacted the Hajimirsadeghi family last week.

Johan Forsell also understands that the doctor thinks that politicians have done very little to stop the development of violence and believes that the allocation that the government gave to various authorities last year and that should be ready in November 2021 is too slow.

– When you see what Ali and the others have been through, all you have to do is sit down and complete the task in a couple of months and then go through the Riksdag. In fact, I think it is possible to make the comparison with the pandemic, where very fast measures have been taken. When it takes several years, I do not believe that the safety of citizens is taken as seriously as it deserves. I am concerned that there will be more bombings like this, says Forsell and continues.

– Ali is a victim of a crime and I think that for too long in this country we have talked more about the perpetrator than about the victim of the crime. What I can tell Ali is that I will do everything in my power to change that, says Forsell, who will take over the case from Justice Minister Morgan Johansson (S), when he is called to the Justice Committee.

The moderates have presented an eight-point reform package to stop the bombing.

Even the Swedish Democrats Legal policy spokesman Adam Marttinen reacts strongly to the story.

– You are horrified that you are so defenseless in Sweden when things happen to you in which you yourself are not involved, says Marttinen, who thinks it is very serious when third parties are affected.

A woman in her 85s was seriously injured in the explosion in Hagakliniken’s bathroom.

– It is something that we have pointed out, that the type of gang crime that has gained momentum in Sweden will not take into account other affected people. The government has mitigated this risk, but now we have had shootings, explosions and even attacks on police stations, which is an expression of utter cruelty. Sadly, the situation has become what we warn about, says Marttinen.

He believes that Ali Hajimirsadeghi in the DN interview gives a good picture of how the situation has developed in Sweden over the last 20-25 years, where the climate has hardened in criminal settings. SD has proposed that military assets be used to protect vulnerable people and buildings.

– It is completely unsatisfactory that an individual should live in fear of death and not feel that he has enough protection from society, says Marttinen.

Leader of the Liberal Party Nyamko Sabuni planned to have a meeting with Hajimirsadeghi on Tuesday. In a written comment to DN before the meeting, she says that the entire basis of the social contract is threatened when criminals gain ground.

“Ali and the bombing his business has been subjected to is unfortunately proof of this. Society fails to protect its property,” says Sabuni, who sees more examples of how crime has consequences for citizens.

– When the police advise the public not to visit public places at certain times of the day, society has partially lost control. To increase security and freedom, we must stop the escalation of violence and immediately stop the recruitment of young people, Sabuni says.

DN has reached out to Justice Minister Morgan Johansson for comment.
