UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to travel to Brussels this week. On Tuesday morning, he monitored the first COVID-19 vaccines at a London hospital.
Wednesday afternoon is the best advice for when British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrives in Brussels for major negotiations on the future after Brexit.
After a telephone conversation between Johnson and the president of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Monday, the duo decided to meet with the IRL as well, in a physical meeting in Brussels “in the next few days”.
Judging from other schedule reasons, it probably means Wednesday afternoon or evening, although definitive information has not been provided yet.
Johnson himself radiates optimism and pessimism.
– The situation at the moment is very complicated. But you have to be optimistic, you have to have the power of common sense, says the Prime Minister to the BBC in London.
Before the meeting between Johnson and von der Leyen, the main negotiators of both parties, David Frost and Michel Barnier, will list the difficulties that remain to be resolved.
Above all, it is about who should be able to fish how much in British waters, how to ensure that EU and UK companies can compete on a level playing field and how and where future disputes should be resolved.
A global agreement is being sought to replace the current transition rules that expire on December 31.
