Astra Zeneca vaccine delayed

Manufacturing problems put a damper on several of the drug giants developing coronavirus vaccines.

In the past, Pfizer and Biontech, whose vaccine candidate has received so-called emergency approval in the UK, have also had problems. They have announced that they will deliver five million doses in the UK before the turn of the year. That’s only half of what the British government had expected just a few months earlier.

Now it seems that the delivery of Astra Zeneca will also be less than expected. If their vaccine is approved, it is expected to deliver four million doses to the UK before the end of 2020. Earlier this year, they planned according to a much higher figure, namely 30 million.

The morning after the announcement of the delayed doses, the United Kingdom, as the first country in the world, began to vaccinate the population with the vaccine from Pfizer and Biontech. On Tuesday, hundreds of Britons will be shot first.
