On Sunday evening, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) posted a post on Facebook.
He then said that the Danish government will present new measures related to the crown in much of the country on Monday.
– We must have better control over the infection before Christmas Eve. It will take a lot of us again, Mette Frederiksen said in the video on Facebook.
Now TV2 experiences that the new restrictions are, among other things, that bars, restaurants in Copenhagen and 37 other municipalities will be closed. Restaurants have previously closed at 10 pm, but this has not had the desired effect.
– People have found ways to circumvent the restrictions. For example, they start the party earlier, so they feel ready to go home at 10 p.m., says virologist Allan Randrup Thomsen.
“It’s horrible to think”
Theaters and cinemas will also close and one of those affected by the closure is Jon Stephensen, who is the director of the Aveny-T theater in Copenhagen. But it is positive about the measure.
– We must recognize that when it closes, the spread of infection decreases. And I think the theaters should get involved and take on that responsibility. It’s horrible to think that people can die because we insist on keeping it open, he tells TV2.
According to BT, all school-age children from fifth grade onwards will also be sent home on the first Christmas break. All public employees who do not have socially critical tasks must work from home. The new restrictions are expected to take effect between Wednesday, December 9, and Sunday, January 3.
38 mayors have been called to a digital information meeting with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Monday morning. At 12 o’clock, he has the new restrictions on the press conference.
New restrictions in Sweden this week
During the week, new restrictions from the Swedish Public Health Agency will also be introduced. But there is no talk of major closures like in Denmark.
People should socialize in smaller circles, travel safely, and those who have to shop should do so alone. In addition, regional councils are abolished and replaced by national restrictions where the tone is sharpened: “should” become “should” and more emphasis is placed on the personal responsibility of all, writes TT who has read the proposal.
Stronger measures in much of Denmark, even though the country is not as affected as Sweden.
– Sweden follows the same pattern as many other worst affected countries in Europe: Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, etc. Denmark is in a kind of middle ground, state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell told a news conference last week.
In Denmark, it is urged not to gather more than 10 people during the Christmas celebrations. There are no such instructions in Sweden.
– We have not given any speech, but previously we have had it with eight people as a rule. We do not want to put an exact ceiling on it, family relationships and circumstances are very different, but if you have it as a guideline, it is probably quite good, says Director General of the Public Health Agency Johan Carlson to TT.
Norway too
If you look at our neighboring country Norway, they also introduced their Christmas restrictions last week. Then Prime Minister Erna Solberg announced that Norwegians can have five guests for the entire holiday celebration, except for two days, when it is okay with ten guests. The distance of one meter also applies to everyone you don’t live with, throughout the Christmas celebration. In the most infectious areas, apply two meters.
The country’s quarantine rules continue to apply, for those who are going to celebrate Christmas abroad or bring guests from another country.
Norwegians are also urged to limit their social contacts and not travel unnecessarily.
