Various job offers help pay your rental debt and compassionate care.
After the Aftonbladet article about the mother of young children Helén who has no money for food, people from all over Sweden have come together to help.
– This has made me believe in humanity again, says Helén Blomqvist.
Two weeks ago Aftonbladet reported on the mother of young children, Helén, 34, who had been waiting for her message from Alfakassan since August. With an income of zero to one thousand crowns a month from odd jobs, she could not afford to buy food and has incurred rent debt.
After the article, hundreds of readers across the country have contacted us to offer help to Helen and her children. The phone has been hot for the past two weeks and your mailbox is full.
– It feels completely overwhelming. I have never cried so much in my life, I am so moved that people listen to me and want to defend me, Helén says.

This spring, Helen was laid off from her job as a sewer technician.
Pay the rent debt
Several people have started fundraising events to help Helen, some have requested donations, and others have suggested other ways to get help.
The money she has received is used to pay her son Charlie’s preschool fee so that he can start preschool again and pay back the loans to his relatives.
– The bills are running. This gives me a chance to go back and catch up. I am so thankful.
Also, many have heard of job openings.
– That’s what makes me get back on my feet. I have been offered a job in health, a drainage technician to install solar panels. I’ll take what I get, says Helén.

“Feel at peace”
For the first time since last spring, when she was unemployed, she feels that stress and anxiety about the future have eased. Feels calm before Christmas.
– It feels good, I will not start buying Christmas decorations or Christmas gifts, everything I have received help goes to the bills. But I feel calm now that I can pay the bills and see that I can get a job soon.
People have also heard from them and wanted to give Christmas presents, but Helen has refused. Her two sons, Charlie, 3, and Noah, 10, will have a nice Christmas with Christmas food and Christmas presents from their grandparents and she is welcome there too.

“Feeling disappointed in society”
After the article, many in the same situation as Helen have heard her stories.
– It makes you feel like you’re not alone. But I worry how many of those in my situation will cope, many feel very bad.
She criticizes the fact that the system that would have protected her and many others was not there when they needed it.
– You feel disappointed by society.
But their fellow men were there.
– It really shows that people exist for each other in these difficult times.
