– Good tennis and lots of tough games. The girls did their best, but today was not enough to win. It’s just to congratulate Enskede who played really well. We will have to take new steps next year, said Fair Play coach Mervana Jugic-Salkic.

Fair play won the away game 5-1 in the last group round of the week, but failed to defend its Swedish championship gold in a five-hour final thriller.

Valentina Ivakhnenko / Conny Perrin acknowledged that they gave Fair Play the advantage when Pemra Ozgen / Iva Primorac were defeated in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. But in the second double game, Enskede took home a long and tough match. Cornelia Lister / Kajsa Rinaldo Persson had two match points against Ana Vrljic / Rebecca Gustafson, but ultimately lost 14-16 in the decisive tiebreaker of the match.

When the singles game began, Sofia Nami Samavati with her fourth consecutive victory in SM’s game ensured Fair Play went 2-1 in matches through 6-2, 6-2 against Fanny Norin in the simple room.

Enskede finished strong with three straight wins. Ana Vrljic turned around and won in the decisive tiebreaker of the match against Kajsa Rinaldo Persson who had match balls, but was defeated 6-4, 2-6, 9-11.

Soon after, Iva Primorac hit the ball of the game against Fair Play international star Cornelia Lister on the second single and Fair Play came under pressure. The first single was also decided in a tiebreaker match. Conny Perrin fell to Pemra Ozgen.

In 2015, Enskede LTK played in division 3. Five years later, the club can celebrate its first gold in the Swedish Championship.

Pemra Özgen scored a major win on Enskede’s first single.

– In team matches it is very important to have good cohesion. I have played for the club for three years and this team feels like family, we love each other. This means a lot, he said.
