– It is a message of strength for the Swedish labor market and Sweden, says Stefan Löfven and adds:

– This shows that the Swedish model works, also under current conditions.

The previous Party Agreement between the white-collar cartel PTK and the Swedish Business Confederation was concluded just over a month ago. So LO decided to say no. But in the meantime, there have been signs from IF Metall, above all, that they still wanted to stick with the deal, which the government has said is willing to pass a law rather than the political inquiry that many have given the go-ahead.

Adjustment support and more exceptions to priority rules

The agreement between the four parties means, among other things, that employees will be entitled to adjustment support if their employment rate decreases, a greater right to retraining and skill development and that fixed-term employment will be transferred to permanent employment after 12 months of employment, of the previous 24 months.

The agreement also means that employers have the right to make exceptions to the priority rules in the event of the dismissal of three employees, regardless of the size of the company. and that the exemptions for companies with a maximum of ten employees are increased to five of two employees.

The government will now, in accordance with the January agreement, prepare to make the agreement law.

– We are now beginning the legislative work where the parties’ agreement will be implemented, says Labor Minister Eva Nordmark, who adds that a new law must be in force before the term ends.

“A new agreement from Saltsjöbad”

Center Party party leader Annie Lööf says it is very gratifying that If Metall and Kommunal have managed to reach an agreement in which LO as a whole failed.

– It is very good that the majority of LO, PTK and the Swedish Business Confederation are now behind a new Saltsjöbad agreement, he says.

The Left Party, which previously threatened a no-confidence motion against Stefan Löfven if the government signed the so-called Toijer Inquiry into law without taking LO’s views into account, is also cautiously positive.

– Now a completely new agreement has been concluded between Kommunal, IF Metall, PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Companies where these topics are included. Now we must listen to other unions and come back, says leftist leader Nooshi Dadgostar in a written comment.
