Martin Ponsiluoma blocked three shots on two shooters in the sprint, but still finished in the top ten.
This is thanks to an incredible speed on the track. His driving time was 13.7 seconds faster than today’s winner Tarjei Bö, who was second fastest.
Ponsiluoma managed to overtake Johannes Thingnes Bö on the track on the sprint lap.
– I was very motivated on the sprint lap. “I just wanted to catch up with Johannes and then he was so slow that it was just a matter of walking,” the Swede tells SVT Sport.
– It’s absolutely amazing. “I didn’t think I’d ever hear that,” says SVT sports expert Helena Ekholm.
Norwegian Thingnes Bö was also impressed by Ponsiluoma.
– I was very impressed. It was a shame with both barriers up. He had a good chance of winning today, he says and continues:
– He just dropped me on the track. Lactic acid rose to my ears immediately. I got a little psychedelic there.
“A very fun hunting start”
Given the good form, Ponsiluoma charges before the start of the hunt on Saturday. Of those who finished before him on the hit list, none had more than one boom.
– I think it will probably be a very fun hunting start, he says.
On Sunday, filming also worked for Ponsiluoma when he finished third.
Sebastian Samuelsson did well too, only Ponsiluoma and the Bö brothers were faster than him on the track.
