Norwegians can choose two days, for example, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, when they can celebrate a bit longer.
That’s because up to ten people are allowed to gather, Erna Solberg announces today.
– Christmas is a time of closeness, not distance, he says.
For two days, Norway allows its residents to party for a little longer. This is when up to ten people get together to celebrate the holidays together. Which are the two days that everyone should decide, Prime Minister Erna Solberg announced today.
Distance also in the buffet
But everyone who does not live together should stay at least a meter apart, even when the Christmas table is served and the flaps are opened.
– It has been difficult to find solutions that suit everyone. You live with different family constellations and life situations. Christmas is a time of closeness, not distance, he says during a press conference according to VG.
– But we do not want to start the new year with increasing levels of contagion and new austerity measures.
Therefore, it is a requirement that everyone limit the total number of people they have contact with during the entire holiday period, especially before Christmas itself.
– For two days, we open up to ten guests, for example, on Christmas Eve and New Years, or if you choose to do it another two days, says Erna Solberg.
Advises not to travel
In “Rome Christmas”, that is, the second days, the maximum recommended number is five people.
– With these recommendations, we think it will be a fantastic holiday season for most people, although it may be a little different than what we are used to, says Erna Solberg.
Those who have their ten closest relatives outside of Norway, on the other hand, shouldn’t see this as an invitation to travel. Anyone who absolutely does not need to travel abroad should stay home.
– We know that many people take advantage of the Christmas weekend to visit relatives who live in other countries, says the Prime Minister and continues:
– I am concerned that those who travel bring infections. So I remind you of the quarantine rules. They will stay after Christmas and it is very important that people who have to travel abroad follow them.
