The Green Party, on the other hand, barely manages the barrier with 4.2 percent of voter support. The Left Party increased to 9.3 percent and the Center Party to 7.6. Both changes are statistically significant compared to the previous survey in May.
Christian Democrats lose 5.4 percent, while Swedish Democrats basically remain at 17.6.
The rise of the moderates of 2.0 percentage points since May is also statistically significant according to Statistics Sweden, which also applies to the fall of the Social Democrats of 4.3. The latest poll was conducted after S received a strong boost in public opinion during the first wave of the pandemic. However, a 29.4 percent voter support for S remains higher than the party’s 2018 election result of 28.3 percent.
The moderates have in May he elected voters from both the Social Democrats and the Liberals and Christian Democrats. Moderates party secretary Gunnar Strömmer says the poll confirms a positive trend for the party seen over the past year.
– There is a general dissatisfaction with the current government and social development. The survey shows that more and more people see a realistic alternative that can challenge the power of government, he says.
The party secretary sees two main reasons for the moderate tailwind.
– We focus on the main social problems such as unemployment and crime. I think voters appreciate that we provide elaborate answers on how those problems can be reversed. We also increasingly acquire the role of a coalition party in Swedish politics. We have said that we are ready to cooperate with all parties that want a change of government. I think it is appreciated that we are clear on that point, says Gunnar Strömmer.
In addition to the moderates, the flows of voters from the Social Democrats between May and November have gone to the Left Party and the Center Party, but also to the category that does not declare any party.
The party secretary, Lena Rådström Baastad, is still not so dissatisfied.
– Right now we are focusing less on opinion figures and more on the dire situation we find ourselves in when it comes to the spread of infection. But that we finish a bit above our electoral result and significantly higher than a year ago, I think that is acceptable. We are in the middle of a difficult mandate in which we have a completely new collaboration and a difficult parliamentary situation, he says in a written comment to DN.
Statistics Sweden’s results for liberals confirm the picture that has previously emerged in DN / Ipsos and other polls. The party is in a historically deep crisis. With voter support of 3.0 percent, the proportion of voters who would vote for the party has nearly halved since the 2018 elections. The risk of losing all parliamentary seats is real. Since the 2018 elections, the Liberals have lost voters to all other bourgeois parties, but also to the Social Democrats. Compared to the May survey, the losses have been for the moderates.
Juno Blom is the secretary of the Liberal Party.
– They are bad numbers and a very tough situation for our party. We have had low public opinion since the formation of the government, he says.
The party needs to restore the confidence of bourgeois voters, says Juno Blom.
– We will continue to promote liberal reforms and develop our policy for a better school, integration and environment. But we also understand that liberals in time before the next election must give a clear message about who we want to see as prime minister, he says in a written comment.
From the previous Statistics Sweden survey In May, the Left Party changed leaders, from Jonas Sjöstedt to Nooshi Dadgostar, who took office shortly before the polls started. Statistics Sweden confirms the increase in V that has been seen in DN / Ipsos in recent months and that the party remains there even after the change of party leader.
