However, in an interview with Dagens Nyheter, state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell notes that it is highly uncertain when a vaccine is available to everyone. He tells the newspaper that the vaccine Sweden has access to will come out as soon as possible, and that the regions “are way ahead in their planning,” but:
– So it is still very uncertain in what quantities the vaccine comes out and during what period. The main vaccine manufacturers with whom we have signed agreements have spoken of delivery times of one to two years, he explains to the newspaper.
When asked by DN if other countries are too optimistic, Anders Tegnell responds:
– If you have other information aside, I can not know – if you make an overly optimistic assessment. If you go for the vaccines that we feel pretty safe with, it will be a while after the summer before we in Sweden reach those levels.
