Aftonbladet has spoken with classmates who accompanied the incarcerated son before he disappeared from school. Some remember it very clearly while others do not remember it at all.
But everyone who remembers describes it the same way: alone, calm and different.
– It was a silent bullying, no one wanted to sit next to him, says a classmate.
The son attended school until the seventh grade, after which he suddenly disappeared and was kept behind closed doors with his mother for 28 years. Aftonbladet has spoken to the man’s classmates who remember him as well as his mother.
A classmate who has been in the same class as the 41-year-old during elementary school remembers it well.
– I was very frozen, I went alone on breaks, it was a silent bullying. It was a different luxury.
She says that she and her friends perceived him as very shy and insecure.
– It was a long time ago and we were just children, but I remember so clearly that their hygiene was not well taken care of.

“Everyone knows who his mother is”
A classmate remembers the 41-year-old from high school:
– It was a little special, a little different. He had shortness of breath and some poor social skills. It was difficult for him to talk to his friends.
The colleague remembers that he also had learning difficulties:
– When you received help from someone else to do your homework, you learned, but it was difficult for you to study yourself.
Do you remember the mother?
– Everyone recognizes her, for her bushy hair and a slightly strange dress. Looks a bit sloppy, generally disheveled. I saw her in a mall recently. It’s not hard to recognize, it looks the same for 40 years.
A 41-year-old middle-class classmate recalls:
– He wasn’t there every day, he appeared from time to time. Sometimes he was there for a few days, then he was away for a week.
– He wasn’t social at all, he kept to himself. He sat in his world, he was not so active in the lessons. It was quite invisible. If the teacher asked a question, he answered, but no more.
Do you remember the mother?
– No more than she used to go to school with him. It was unusual for a father to accompany his son to school. I don’t know why he did it.
Class father: mother said she just wanted to be inside
A man who was a neighbor and class father in the seventh year remembers the man who is now 41 years old well.
– You have to find a friendlier person. It was the class teddy bear. But I remember being out of school a lot and having high absenteeism. I don’t know why, not much was said about it at the time.
But when the son was suddenly pulled from school, no one reacted.
– He just disappeared and I haven’t seen him since, probably there was no one who thought so much about that.
The man also lives near the house where the mother and son lived, he says he often knew the mother and describes her as very sociable.
– I used to ask how he was with the son. She always replied that he just wanted to be inside and that he liked working on the computer.
He says she didn’t stand out in anything other than her frizzy hair and that she gave an image of being “completely normal.”
– But she had this great secret that she went and carried. His father lived nearby and he told me that you were never allowed in the apartment. It was strange, of course, but they had accepted it.
Classmate: I’m in shock
A classmate who was with her son in seventh grade says she found out who he was in the morning.
– I’m so surprised that it happened without anyone noticing. I can’t understand it, she says.
– I remember him as very tall and big, but not as big as overweight, just a big guy. He was quite quiet and reserved, and he did well in school.
He also remembers his mother well.
– Maybe mainly because of her hairstyle. His hair was very thick. He often walked downtown and bought food several times a day. She didn’t stand out in any other special way, she was cute.
