Denmark’s Health Minister Magnus Heunicke (S) urges young people in the Copenhagen area to get tested for covid before Christmas.

All young people between the ages of 15 and 25 living in one of the 17 municipalities in the Copenhagen area, including Copenhagen and Fredriksberg, are invited to test the Covid-19 before Christmas arrives.

This is the call from the Danish government, which presented new crown restrictions at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

To carry out the comprehensive tests, additional staff must be booked for the task, says Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke (S), according to the Ritzau news agency.

– There is a particularly high proportion of infected people among the young. Twenty-six percent of those infected in Copenhagen are young, he says.

Before the press conference, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen wrote on Facebook that there are stricter rules in and around Copenhagen.

“Infection rates are worryingly high. And the situation is particularly dire in the capital area,” writes Frederiksen.

“For this reason, stricter measures are now being introduced in 17 municipalities,” he adds.

However, Health Minister Magnus Heunicke assures that the Christmas celebrations will not stop.

– But these measures are necessary because we see that the infection is increasing in these municipalities. And something must be done, he says.
