Ica is recalling sliced cold smoked salmon in 150 gram packages as they have the wrong expiration date. The packaging states that the salmon must be consumed no later than January 16, 2021, but the correct expiration date before Christmas.
In a press release, Ica writes that there are no defects in the product, but that the salmon is being recalled as a precautionary measure as it should not be consumed after December 17.
The revocation only applies to packages marked with the expiration date before January 16, 2021.
“At ICA, we perform careful quality checks on all the products we put on the market. We have discovered that the expiration date is incorrect on the current packaging and it is important that the customer receives information about this,” says Lena Sparring, manager of quality of ICA Sweden in press release.
Ica is now investigating together with its supplier how the incorrect marking could have occurred and what measures must be taken to prevent it from happening again.
