On Sunday night, a man in his 40s was found in an apartment in Stockholm’s Haninge municipality. It is suspected that he was imprisoned for 28 years by his mother, which Expressen was the first to tell him.
– He was found by a relative at the home who sounded the alarm. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of unlawful deprivation of liberty, aggravated by causing bodily harm and aggravated by causing illness, Emma Olsson, prosecutor in the Södertörn prosecution room tells DN.
The woman, who is over 70 years old, she has been arrested and today the Prosecutor’s Office will decide whether to request her arrest.
According to information from Expressen, a relative of the man must have entered the house where he found his son barely spoken. He must have been difficult to carry, toothless and had large permanent wounds all over his body.

The son was taken to the hospital and prosecutor Emma Olsson confirms to DN that the man had to undergo surgery for his injuries.
– She continues to receive care for the physical injuries she has, which injuries I cannot address yet, but she has had surgery for them, says Emma Olsson.
After the hospital alerted the police, a patrol arrived at the scene and heard the son:
– In conversations with the man, it emerged that, against his will, he had been imprisoned in an apartment in Haninge for a “long time”. Suspicions were directed at the man’s mother. We will conduct in-depth interrogations with the man and the woman. The man is still being treated in the hospital, the injuries must not endanger his life. During the day, we will conduct a crime scene investigation at the apartment and various interrogations, says Ola Österling from the Stockholm Police to DN.

– We don’t know why you couldn’t sound the alarm earlier. We will trace his life, how this man seems to have disappeared from society. We will hear from many witnesses, says Emma Olsson.
According to her, there are many indications that the man has been detained for between 25 and 30 years.
– Now we will focus on answering the question of how long and why.

Neighbors in the area they are shocked by suspicions. A neighbor who lives nearby says he never noticed anything until police rang the bell Sunday night.
– I met her on the farm, a lonely old woman. I knew she had grown children, but I assumed she lived alone. He did not expect there to be another person in the house.
A woman who has lived in the area since the 1990s says she knew the woman had children but had never seen any of them.
– It has always seemed so strange to me that I have seen the woman so little. You have to go shopping, right? Think of the destination so close, it’s incredible.
