SK Lejon received a positive response to a crown test during the warm-up match.

The player was sent home and the rest of the team completed the match against Kiruna IF.

Subsequently, about 10 players tested positive, according to NSD.

There were cold symptoms in SK Lejon’s squad. Then all the players were quickly assessed and those with symptoms were removed from the rest of the team.

The rest prepared for the match, in Hockeyettan against Kiruna IF. But during the warm-up, the first positive test results came in, says NSD. The player in question was sent home and the team played the match as planned.

After the match, it turned out that more players had tested positive for COVID-19. About ten players participated in the match, despite being infected. So says SK Lejon sporting director Lars Westermark.

NSD: Why didn’t you cancel?

– We can’t do it, there were very few infected. Only one was determined at the time and we’ve had a dialogue with Hockeyettan, who has a rule that five must be infected before setting up, says Westermark.

Pause your activities

He also says that he is not allowed to cancel the match and that none of the players who participated had symptoms.

Both SK Lejon and Kiruna IF will now pause their operations for a week. Kiruna will also test the entire team as soon as possible.

– No player who is with us has symptoms, it is important to point out. But it still feels good to stop the business. We as a hockey team have a social responsibility that we must take on, says sporting director Henrik Törmä on the club’s website.

Wednesday’s games are postponed for both teams. SK Lejon would play Boden while Kiruna IF would play a derby against Kiruna AIF.
