The University West researchers want to increase gender equality in technical education through a slightly different method.

Right now, an artificial influencer is being developed, a fictional role model who will inspire girls to choose a future as an engineer, Ny Teknik reports.

With The Life of ART, Artificial Research Technology project, the researchers want to reach adolescent girls, a group where interest in technology is declining.

– We would like to see as many girls as boys pursue technical education and we are starting to do some research on what this gap may be and how we can bridge it, says Beata Jungselius, PhD in Applied IT and Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at University West. to the newspaper.

It is not decided what the new virtual personality will look like and what content he will post on social media. But according to Beata Jungselius, the inspiration is taken partly from media personality Bianca Ingrosso, partly from engineer and YouTube profile Simone Giertz.

Using celebrities to promote yourself is not a new phenomenon. The next step is to adapt personalities using artificial intelligence. The method has been described by several as the marketing of the future.

Already last year, Ica launched the virtual baby influencer Elis, whose purpose is to make life easier for parents of young children. Perhaps the most famous virtual personality is the avatar Lil Miquela with her 2.8 million followers on Instagram.
