New information on how 6-year-old Jasmina disappeared in Sävsjö

The mysterious disappearance has eluded the police for decades. Jasmina Jasharaj, age 6, was last seen at her home in Sävsjö on July 28, 1997.

The police investigation into the case is one of the most extensive ever conducted in Sweden and is still ongoing.

Among the suspects, convicted murderers Ulf Olsson and Anders Eklund have appeared in the investigation, without being able to link to the crime.

From day one, the starting point for the police has been that Jasmina left home at 2 in the afternoon and went out to play with some friends. Later, it is said that they parted ways around 20, and the last person to see Jasmina is said to have been a 15-year-old acquaintance who saw her walk into a forest.

The mother believes that Jasmina is alive

But now completely different tasks are presented.

With the help of author Assar Andersson, mother Florije Jasharaj has written the book “Sävsjöflickan” to be published on December 1. In it, the mother says that Jasmina played between 3 and 4 in the afternoon in one room of the apartment while she was in another room.

Jasmina must have heard singing in the hallway, according to the mother. Then it should have sounded like the door was open and then the song should have gone silent.

– I’ve always said something happened in the hallway. I think someone took Jasmina, says Florije Jasharaj.

Initially, the disappearance was classified as kidnapping, but later it was changed to murder. This means that the crime will never be prescribed by law. But there is no crime scene yet and no body has been found.

Police: “New information”

Now retired police officer Johan Frisk, who was part of the investigation from the beginning, believes that the mother’s information in the book is “remarkable.”

– What is now being said about Jasmina’s possible disappearance from the apartment is completely new information. If that were the case, we would have a completely different matter, he tells Värnamo Nyheter.

Rickard Finndahl, Head of the Felony Group within the Höglandet Police, is currently in charge of the investigation and was also unaware of the information.

– These are completely new tasks for us and we have to handle them. But it is too early to say to what extent and in what way, he tells VN.

“I’m getting a little pissed off”

Mother Florije Jasharaj reacts strongly to the police response and believes that it is not new information at all.

– I don’t understand anything, I’ve said it many times. I get a little pissed off too. Has no one listened to me? It does not seem. This is nothing new.

Author Assar Andersson believes that this may be a misunderstanding which has meant that the police may have overlooked absolutely crucial information at the beginning of the investigation.

– The police haven’t done a bad job. Rather, I think it may have had something to do with a mixture of commotion and confusion of language, he says.

23 years have passed since the disappearance, but time does not heal the wounds of Jasmina’s mother, Florije Jasharaj. She is convinced that her daughter is still alive.

– It’s getting more difficult. I lost my husband in 2017, and before he passed away he told me that he hoped I would find her again.
