Iceland’s entry restrictions will apply until February 1, the government states on its website.
In order to enter the country, a negative corona test is required on arrival, then you are quarantined for 14 days or for five days if you later take a new test.
The rules are in effect from August 19.
During the time you are in quarantine, you can go for a walk or drive, but you should not meet other people or stay in public environments, such as shops or restaurants, advises the Danish Ritzau.
“These measures are taken to limit the risk of the infection entering the country across the border. Although we can never guarantee that all possible sources of future outbreaks can be stopped, it is prudent to strive to minimize this risk as much as possible. We hope that the development of effective vaccines will allow us to review border measures during the first weeks of the new year, ”Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir said on the government website.
In mid-January, it is expected to be able to provide new information on border regulations.
According to a compilation by Johns Hopkins University, 5,371 cases of covid-19 have been confirmed in Iceland, 26 people have died.
