Must be the most depressing authority on the planet

An inexplicable light appeared on the walls of the house yesterday afternoon. Sudden pain inside the eyelids, what was happening? We looked for the light, we ran down the boulevards and there we finally saw it, the sun, shining low between two facades of houses and we stopped and gasped. When it disappeared, we stopped for a while, moved, before looking at the concrete again and moving on. We talked about the strange phenomenon of light after dinner, we talked about what we had been through.

Later in the evening I went out into town again to watch Black Friday. The queue in front of Elgiganten on Kungsgatan, an 80-meter long duel that stood there stomping in the cold. Sometimes it happened that someone would leave the store, with the electronics in their arms, they would take cartons bigger than them, and I don’t know if they looked happier than those who were waiting to enter.

I thought of Tranströmer, who wrote about a woman who “buys and buys things to throw into the hollow of the empty spaces trailing behind her.” I can’t prove it statistically, but it certainly feels like the depression we’re entering right now, it’s something new. The gaps trailing behind us have never been so large before. It’s a new pain, and I don’t think it’s hard to live in the crown. I think we are ready for this. Stefan Löfven’s previously almost hysterical moan that it will not be a celebration of Lucia as we thought is almost parodic, mysterious, because who even celebrates Lucia? And the serious messages that Christmas will not be the same are, of course, heavy, but we already knew that. This total depression has to do with a perception that little by little is hammering us. We have always thought that we will be able to cope with the dark because at the bottom of the tunnel we see a white point, and even if it goes slowly, we are on our way from there, towards the white point that gradually widens. We dream of a moment when we would hug again. Authorities are now giving small signals that that moment will never come. I don’t know why, but it seems they want to kill us with depression. They want us to believe that we will always live with the virus; crown is the new normal.

Sweden isn’t at the top of any list when it comes to corona handling, directly. But when it comes to pessimism, we must be number one. The public health authority must be the most depressing authority on the planet. The fact that the world now has a series of vaccines, which have developed very rapidly and seem to carry the marks of health, has been greeted with jubilation in the rest of the world. Boris Johnson now promised his people that they would be allowed to celebrate a normal Easter. In Sweden, the news about vaccines has been presented as one more obstacle.

The managing director of the Swedish Public Health Agency, Johan Carlson, seems almost saddened by the vaccine, completely disheartened. During the vaccine press conference, which must have breathed at least a hint of optimism, Carlson sadly lowered his gaze to his shoes and with a tone that almost leaned toward irritation, made it clear that a vaccine does NOT mean the end of a pandemic does NOT mean we can ease some restrictions. When he spoke clearly, it did not feel as if we were informed of something fundamentally positive, on the contrary, we had heard a kind of twisted mass of mourning.

The rest of the world is now preparing to deliver the vaccine quickly and efficiently to people’s armpits. Breathe fast! In Sweden, we are urged to calm down. Germany and the UK plan to start already in December, but here we can start in January, if we are lucky and we are only at risk, the large population will have to wait. How long? Yeah all that sounds pretty bad to me, it seems BT is not for me either, it seems BT is not for me either, it seems BT is not for me either, it seems BT is not for me either, it seems BT is not for me either. They should delay the start of vaccination to such an extent that we lose track of time, vague information, obscure information, until it ends that smoothly, without anyone noticing, we do not get vaccinated at all, and then FHM has received as they want because vaccines are a threat to depression that must prevail, now and forever.

See how they work to reach the goal.
