The forged letter is alleged to have come from the Swedish Public Health Agency. Stock Photography.
A forged letter was sent to people in Luleå claiming that the recipient has been exposed to COVID-19. The Norrbotten region is now issuing a warning, writes NSD.
The letter, which supposedly comes from the Public Health Agency, urges the recipient to stay home because “there is a suspicion that he is infected.” The author of the letter states that the authority will soon contact the recipient.
But according to Rickard Stewén, head of security in the Norrbotten region, FHM is not involved in the spread of the infection at the individual level.
He sees the risk that scammers may seek out those who are contacted later.
– Fraudsters may call or visit those who received the letter and try to access the person’s bank details, Stewén tells NSD.
Urge those who received the false letter to make a police report.
