Fifteen years after his retirement, it’s time for boxer Mike Tyson to step into the ring when he takes on Roy Jones Jr. on Saturday American time.

– It will be entertaining. He is a fighter. I’m a fighter. Anything can happen, says Tyson.

The 54-year-old former world heavyweight champion has lost 45 kilos in preparations for his comeback.

– I didn’t think I’d live that long. It was so intense, Tyson says at a press conference.

– That I exist is a success, he adds.

Tyson says he plans to go tough against Roy Jones Jr.

– Know my combinations, but not speed or strength. He won’t know how my punches will come, says Tyson.

Tyson’s journey to match form began with 15 minutes a day on tape.

– The first day was catastrophic, says Tyson, but adds that even though it was an uphill, he felt he was there, in the gym, where he belonged.

– This is fun. Right now. Everything else I’ve been through is hell.

Even the opponent, Roy Jones Jr., 51, claims the form is on top.

– I can hardly believe I can maintain this speed at 51. It amazes me. That’s the craziest thing, he says and adds:

– The pain is there. You have to have mental strength to overcome resistance.

Tyson and Jones meet at a gala in Los Angeles on Sunday night Swedish time.
