Nadja Holm and Paulina Pancenkov to the final of “Idol”

Nadja Holm seemed equally surprised both times when her name was called and it was clear that she had moved on. The jury only praised the Piteå singer and her choice of an uptempo song in the second round.

– You choose a song that shows that you are much more than a powerful ballad singer, said Nikki Amini.

Paulina Pancenkov was called “one of the best singers we have had in the history of the show” by Kishti Tomita. He received a standing ovation from the jury for his performance of “And I Tell You I’m Not Going” and later for his own choice of song.

– This double edged sword that is in this song you nailed it completely. “I have a feeling that when you go to the movies and experience these great James Bond songs, it becomes cinematic,” said the juror of Pancenkov’s rendition of Avicii’s “Addicted to you.”

Caspar Camitz, on the other hand, had a shaky start to his evening. The jury had selected “River deep mountain high” by Tina & Ike Turner, a song the contestant had never heard before and lost the lyrics several times during the performance. But despite that, Kishti Tomita pushed his skill as an artist.

– We must be honest, you had a fashion in between but I thought you saved it well, he said.

Nova Luther is one of the youngest contestants in “Idol” history. But the jury’s choice of a song by Dua Lipa caused viewers to vote for it early in the semi-finals.

– It feels empty, of course. But I feel good and have grown incredibly during this. There is nothing I regret, he said on the show.

With only a few hours left until the semi-finals, this year’s “Idol” contestants were told that two would be dating overnight. The reason was that the jury during a final the previous Friday with the help of their “lifeguard” saved Ella Hedström after the spectators voted for her and therefore the idols became more than usual in the semi-finals.

Nova Luther became the first to leave the competition, after all the contestants had to perform their first song, which was chosen especially for the contestants by the members of the jury.

After the 16-year-old’s performance of Dua Lipa’s “Blow your mind (mwah),” the jury was divided. Alexander Kronlund said that Luther’s charm was centered on the song.

– The song was cute, your attitude was good but it was something that was missing, said Kishti Tomita.

So it will be Nadja Holm and Paulina Pancenkov who will have to make up for the victory in the “Idol” final next week. Since 2014, when Lisa Ajax faced Mollie Lindén, two female participants were not in the final against each other.
