RUKA / STOCKHOLM. It was a huge Swedish success in the sprint heats during the world cup premiere in Ruka.

Four Swedes made it to the top ten and Frida Karlsson had a good time.

– I think it will be a totally Swedish final, says Maja Dahlqvist.

It could be a fun world premiere in Ruka. Seven Swedes advance to the quarterfinals in the sprint. Maja Dahlqvist had the second best time in the heats before Linn Svahn. Norway’s Anne Appelkvist Stenseth was, however, superior and finished just over four seconds ahead of Dahlqvist.

Andersson knocked out

Jonna Sundling (6), Anna Dyvik (8), Emma Ribom (11), Frida Karlsson (12) and Moa Lundgren (14) are also further away from the playoffs.

Karlsson had a good time in the playoffs and was eight seconds behind Stenseth.

– It did not matter that there were many of us who would continue on, says Anna Dyvik.

The only Swede who has not advanced from the playoffs is Ebba Andersson.

– I’m very disappointed. I really wanted to keep going and I think I make a good prologue in terms of driving, but obviously I lose too many seconds until the corner. Maybe he had too much control over quiet parties, she says.

Therese Johaug continued with as little margin as possible as the 30th skier.
