Sweden was singled out worst, now the OECD is backing down

The report singles out Sweden as the worst in discharging IVA patients, keeping the R number low and reducing the spread of infection.

Now SVT has shown that the OECD has miscalculated when it comes to testing different countries per 100,000 inhabitants. The organization has mixed the number of tests performed per week and day for four countries, including Sweden.

– The value was seven times higher. According to them, we were almost at the top when it comes to the amount of testing and that’s not true, Anders Björkman, professor of infectious diseases at the Karolinska Institutet, tells SVT.

The report has been criticized before

The report has previously been criticized by Anders Tegnell, among others, who said it lacked context.

– The different curves are highly context dependent and it is very difficult to draw these different conclusions, said journalist Emmanuel Karlsten.

Tegnell also received the support of Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, who on Expressen TV called it “comparing apples to pears.”

OECD

The OECD, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, is an international economic organization.

It was started to coordinate American Marshall Aid in Europe after World War II and was later called OEEC.
