Since the election just over three weeks ago, Donald Trump has not answered a single question from reporters. What he has thought about the result, he has announced through his lawyers, spokespersons, and not least through Twitter.
On Thursday night Swedish time, he held a video conference with members of the US military from around the world. The conversation was followed by a question time with journalists present in the Oval Room of the White House.
Then he put the question on everyone’s lips: Will he leave the White House on January 20 and contribute to a peaceful transfer of power if voters vote for Joe Biden?
– Of course I’ll do it. And you know it, replied the president.
But, he also said:
– If they do, they are wrong.
Trump does not admit defeat
Joe Biden was declared the winner of the election on November 7 and will receive 306 electoral votes against Trump’s 232. But he does not want to talk about any real defeat in the elections. On two occasions, he said it would be difficult to formally admit the loss and reiterated his allegations of voter fraud. This despite the fact that he and his campaign have not been able to present any solid evidence for their claims. He also did not commit to attend Joe Biden’s presidency.
– I know the answer, but I don’t want to tell it yet.
