André Calisir has not been able to fly home: the key IFK Gothenburg match is lost

At the same time that the other teams in the queue, Falkenberg, Helsingborg and Kalmar, lost their matches, IFK Gothenburg took an important point against the best team BK Häcken in the last round.

This means that Blåvitt can secure a new contract with the Allsvenskan on Sunday in Östersund.

– Of course we won last week against the other teams there, but nothing is clear yet, says Pontus Farnerud, sports director of IFK Gothenburg.

Blåvitt still has several players to do without this weekend.

Midfielder André Calisir has not yet been allowed to travel to Sweden after testing positive for COVID-19 at a national team meeting with Armenia in mid-November.

– André remains in Armenia until he recovers. Hopefully I can come home next week. But Östersund will definitely miss out on Sunday.

Aiesh infected with crown

The other day, Blåvitt also received a newly confirmed crown drop in the team.

Hosam Aiesh, who missed the match against Häcken due to illness, was isolated from the team and staff in Kamratgården as soon as he showed symptoms. The fast winger, who like Blåvitt’s side had a difficult season, will remain at home until he recovers. He is the sixth Blåvitt player to be infected with covid-19.

Forward Christian Kouakou has already been excluded from Sunday’s matches.

– Hosam got his covid-19 message the other day and Christian still hasn’t returned to training. None of them are relevant for the games against Östersund, says Farnerud.

“Working hard for Sunday”

It is gratifying for Blåvitt that August Erlingmark has returned last time against BK Häcken and that Kristopher da Graca is back.

– “Koffe” returns to training tomorrow Friday, so he looks better there.

Otherwise, it has been a difficult time for IFK Gothenburg.

After suffering several serious injuries during the season, such as the long-term injuries of Robin Söder and Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr, it is now the corona infection that is causing problems.

– These are difficult times. At first we had problems with injuries and now it is covid-19, but we are fighting and working hard before Sunday, says Pontus Farnerud.
