No total travel ban this Christmas

Tegnell delivered the message during today’s press conference after a question about whether Swedes will be able to visit the ski resorts during Christmas and New Years.

– You can travel, but you have to do it very responsibly, says Tegnell.

– With these tips coming next week on how to travel safely, the assessment so far is that we will not land on a total travel ban.

It also confirms that national travel tips for the Christmas and New Year celebrations will arrive next week.

Hope in the regions

Jämtland Regional Board President Eva Hellstrand hopes that tourists will be able to come to the region’s ski resorts, including Åre, during Christmas.

– If you travel with your own car, with your own family to your own cabin or apartment, you are still in a limited group, Eva Hellstrand tells TT.

– There are still the kinds of opportunities we would like to have.

Tegnell: the risk is après ski

During the press conference, Tegnell says that the Swedish Public Health Agency is in constant dialogue with the Swedish ski resorts.

– They have developed a lot of guidelines for this to be implemented as safely as possible, he says and adds later:

– Skiing, especially cross-country skiing, is not a risk in itself. The problem is not skiing, the problem is après ski and, of course, après ski will not be eliminated. And by avoiding it, you avoid most of the risk.
